Bare spots after surgery

July 27, 2018, 11:08 PM
Q: Our puppy was spayed 3 days ago. We have noticed that she has raw or bare spots around her snout since coming home. She has not been scratching it and it does not seem to bother her at all. Any ideas? Is this normal?
A: It would be best if you could email me a couple pictures but the 2 explanations that come to mind would be related to sticking her nose through the bars on her hospital cage or related to the ties that are used to secure the endotracheal tube during anaesthesia. They should heal promptly in either case.
