Tummy Growling

November 11, 2015, 9:00 AM
Q: My puppy has been here for 2 weeks and has seemed completely normal (a great eater), but today his stomach is continually growling and he will not eat. It is growling even while he is sleeping. I tried to get him to lick some baby food or yogurt but he turns away and lays down. He has not had a bowl movement but seemed active for an hour before laying down for a nap. How long should I wait to see if he starts eating?
A: Occasional stomach upsets are common in puppies just like for us. I would let him rest for an hour or so and then try some bland food like boiled chicken and rice or scrambled egg. Not too much maybe a tablespoon or so. We need to see what his bowel movement looks like before planning other treatment. Please keep me informed, you can send info to [email protected].
