Common Conditions

Biting and licking feet

April 3, 2020, 4:24 AM
Q: My dog 9 months is having excessive paw licking & he bites his toe nails. Is there anything I can buy to treat this? He does not have flees or ticks I've checked & I don't want to take him outside due to the pandemic. Can you offer a temporary solution?
A: The majority of those cases have their roots in allergy (contact or inhaled” along with secondary yeast overgrowth in the nail beds. Using an antifungal shampoo on the feet can help but it can take 1-2 times weekly for 3 or more weeks to see the benefit.
