Morkie Won't Poop

Q: I brought my morkie home around 5pm yesterday and he pooped when I got home and he hasn't gone again since. It's now 7am the next day. Should I be worried? I thought he would go after each meal and he ate last night.

A: I am assuming the bowel movement that he had yesterday was normal in appearance and that your puppy seems normal otherwise. Absence of a bowel movement unless accompanied by straining, loss of appetite or vomiting is usually going to be ok. The changes in routine brought about during a transition to a new home can give lead to transient shifts in intake or output. Make sure your puppy has easy access to water and is drinking, you may want to include some canned puppy food which includes more water than kibble. A bowel movement will likely occur within a few hours after eating today.
