Q: My Maltese shih Tzu mix has urinated in her crate the last two nights. We have had her for 14 days and this is the first time that this has happened. She barks on and off throughout the night anyway, so I have a hard time telling if I should let her out to go or if I should ignore her. She doesn't have many accidents during the day, but I do take her out very frequently. I got her up in the middle of the night for the first week to take her out, but I was waking her up and thought that was counterproductive so I stopped. She was fine for another handful of days and went from about 8:30 to 5:00 without having an accident. Until now. Advice?
A: It would be best to go back to taking her out once each night.  Try to anticipate her wake up time and pick her up and carry her out before that.
