Bedtime

Q: My maltie-poo doesn't seem to ever want to go to bed. What is the best way for me to handle this?
A: If this is a new puppy you should encourage rest after approximately 20 minute play periods. The puppy should want to nap at least once each couple hours. After a play period offer some food and water and take your puppy to your chosen elimination area. Allow your puppy to settle down with you or place him in his bed. Once you place him to bed it is best to walk away and don't go back. If he is still unsettled after 15 minutes you may need to start over.
