Too Many Fad Foods

October 28, 2019, 7:56 PM
Q: Hi there, I have two Morkie puppies and we have been struggling to find some dog food we are set on getting them. The dog food they are on now is Royal Canin, but we were interested and looking at the Acana dog food. We’ve heard different things about dog food like peas, sweet potatoes, lentils, and chick peas are possibly bad ingredients for dog food. And that grain free dog food is unnecessary unless you have a doctors note saying not to get grain free. Any advice? Thanks
A: Unless your puppy has allergy to grains, which is highly unlikely, grain free foods are not necessary or even good. Unfortunately the pet food industry is spending more time on catching your eye than on simply providing quality non-fad foods.
