Are tick collars harmful?

January 7, 2014, 3:05 PM
Q: I bought a flea tick collar for my puppy and put on her, but when I saw her she has the collar in her mouth, is this will be dangerous for her, I take it off right away and she looks normal nothing different, playful like always but I am concern
A: With most tick collars it is not harmful if the puppy chews on it. If he was able to get it in his mouth the collar is too loose. You should just be able to get two fingers under it. Also for most parasite collars they rely on the dogs body heat and movement to activate, which is another reason to fit it properly.
