Tick removal

November 12, 2021, 5:09 AM
Q: My puppy was bitten by what I think was a tick. I pulled it out by hand but the head got left behind. So tried to remove it with tweezers and most of it is out but I still see some small black part left behind. What do I do? Do I need to worry?
A: If you see a portion of the tick be sure to dislodge it even if you have to "scrape" it out.  Clean and scrub the area with antibacterial soap and let me know if there is any redness or swelling in 2 days.  Are you using a external parasite control product?
