When to Start Parasite Control?
April 13, 2015, 8:24 AM- Q: My yorkie will be 12 weeks old this Sat. and weighs approx. 1lb. 8 oz. Is she old enough and large enough to begin giving a flee treatment ? She has been periodically chewing at her hind legs. What brand and type would you recommend ?
- A: Yes she is old enough for most parasite control products. Personally, I like the fipronyl products (Frontline and many generics) as they provide good flea and tick protection. Check with your vet as there are geographic, environmental variations that influence the choices. If you haven't seen the "Flea" and "Parasite Control" videos you might take a look.
