How to approach causes of itching

July 14, 2015, 1:15 PM
Q: My Shih Tzu puppy Zoey is 10 weeks old and she scratches all the time. Her vet told me to give her benadryl, but she gags on it so I got some epi-soothe shampoo from the vet. I've only used it on her once, but the scratching has not slowed down. What do I need to do? She has been on Diamond puppy food ever since she started eating puppy food.
A: Before we can begin to figure out how you should treat your puppies itchy skin I need a little more information. How long has it been a problem? Is there any redness, rash or dandruff? Where does she scratch the most?
