Q: Once we've gotten our puppy to the point where we can build out a full play pen area, what is the process to train him to use a pad tray in addition to the palace? I believe this will be important when he is upstairs. Another option would be to bring his original crate upstairs and use it as his upstairs option given that it also has a tray and pad inside. What are your thoughts?
A: Once he demenstrates that he returns to the pad from his full size pen you can add a second pad/tray in the pen. Then once he recognizes the additional pad/tray you can start to open his area and then move the tray. The location of the Palace should be determined by where you expect him to sleep.
