Training Tips

Indoor or Outdoor

Q: I have a question about getting our 11 week, 2 lb, puppy potty trained for both indoors and outdoors. Our main focus is the indoor potty training since there will be a few days a week in which we are gone for extended hours. However, eventually we would like to have him outdoor potty trained for those days we are with him all day. Is it better to start with one option and then focus on the other or can you train him for both simultaneously?
A: Outdoor potty training is easier since there is plenty of space where elimination is okay, and plenty to do till the time to eliminate happens. I think best to stick to indoor potty trainng principles especially through about 14 weeks but don't hesitate to spend as much time as you want with him outside.
