Tearing up pads

February 10, 2021, 11:58 PM
Q: We just got our puppy on Monday. We are crate training and for the most part it’s going well. He sleeps at night from 10:30 to 5:15. During the day he will nape 2-3x for an hour or so. The problem is he doesn’t like the pads in his PupPeePoo crate. He digs, chews and rips them. Once we remove the pads he either will sleep or pee in his crate. Is this normal? Since he doesn’t like the pads in his crate he doesn’t like them on the floor either. Suggestions?
A: It is probably more that they are fun to tear up than that he doesn't like them.  It makes a mess but is not a threat to him.  Usually subsides on its own especially when you get to Phase 2 of his training.
