They Hide to Eat Poop

November 10, 2016, 1:17 PM
Q: we have two shorkies and are having a problem with coprophagia, they both do it. We have tried adding pumpkin to their dry food and stool eating deterrent treats with no help. They know we dont want them to do it because now they take it and hide under the couch or entertainment center. Any suggestions would be appreciated.thanks
A: I cannot tell from your comments just which products you have tried. In our clinic we have had the best luck with Forbid or Deter. You can also try sprinkling unseasoned meat tenderizer on their food. No matter which product you are using you will need to do it for both dogs at the same time and continue for at least two weeks if the product is working. There is no harm in continuing longer.
