No Lil Piggy

Q: Our 5 month old cavapoo has had a couple bouts of constipation. It appears that they both came after consuming pigs ears. Would this be simply a coincidence or could she be having trouble in digesting these? Thanks
A: Indigestability is one of the problem with rawhide our pig skin type products. We have had to surgically remove remnants of these products many times. The other problem is once they are chewed and wet they become. An ideal medium for bacterial growth, I prefer hooves or knotted thick rawhide or processed bones if you need to use something other than safe products like Nylabone.
