Q: It has now been 9 nights since we got our yorkie puppy. She is doing a lot better in the crate at night but she still cries and barks in the beginning for about 30 minutes after I put her in the crate and in the morning about 30 minutes before I take her out. Every morning when I uncover the crate I notice she has torn up the wee wee pad. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Also, I still leave some food and water, she i remove that at night?
A: So far as the evening barking the only reliable way is to ignore it. For the morning you can adjust your schedule to let her out when she wakes up, ignoring her in the morning can lead to her changing her habits but it could take a week or more.
