The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has all around beauty with its distinctive silky rich coat, and beautiful colors. The Cavalier colors are typically, black and tan, ruby, tricolor or blenheim. They get along nicely with children and other dogs, and love to be active with their owners. This is a toy spaniel who will only be around 13 inches high, and weigh between 11-18 pounds.
Cavalier King Charles were royalty in the 17th century, claiming hearts in the most royal of England. Of course, being royalty this breed was later named after King Charles I, who adored this toy breed in the black and tan color.
Once matured this breed is still small in weight, only getting to be 11-18 pounds with a height of 12-13 inches. The Cavalier has a long life-span expectancy of 13 years. This spaniel is an active, well-balanced, and graceful character who aims to please.
This breed always has very sweet expressions with large, kind eyes. It has a flat back with long and silky fur. It is an average shedder with low maintenance grooming, as it is essential to breed type to have a natural appearance with no trimming, or sculpting.
They have an active and high-spirited personality and is very happy to join its owners in daily activities. With training, this pup is generally well-behaved and more on the quiet side, however keep in mind that this spaniel is strong-willed and may be tempted to run or chase other pets due to its scenting and hunting instincts.
