New Puppy's diet

August 26, 2017, 5:53 PM
Q: We have a teacup Yokie who is 12 weeks old and weight 2lbs and 6 onces. He has been with us for a week. The first few days he ate really well his dry kibbles. Then he stopped. The breeder told us to feed him baby jar food (chicken) mix with karro syrup. He ate very well and a lot. Now that's all he pretty much wants to eat. But he only wants to eat every 3 to 4 hours. Is it ok to switch him to human food such as plain boiled skinless chicken? And if so should that be mixed with a grain of some sort. He plays and eliminate very well and sleeps. He seems super happy! Thank you!
A: I would rather see you stick with the current baby food for several more days and then try to switch to canned puppy food and if desired then to kibble. I do not feel there is much accurate information about home cooked or "human" food diets for puppies.
