Puppy Wants Table Food

September 13, 2015, 5:15 AM
Q: My Shih Tzu is 4 months old. We were on vacation and I made the mistake of giving her 2 French fries and now all she wants is human food except she will still eat puppy snacks (without corn, wheat, and soy). How can I get her back to eating her own food? Help
A: Since you started it only you can stop it. She is old enough adjusted to the routine so you can simply "wait her out" not giving in with food substitutions. Havving her meal time before yours and in a separate place may help some. Witching her current dog food to something different like the 'fresh" foods ofr trying something like Bil Jac frozen is sometimes unique enough to get her attention. A last resort is for you to create a homemade, balanced stew or casserole. I only offer this to be complete and caution that many homemade attempts are not balanced and time consuming for you. Once you start this practice it is sifficult to stop.
