Puppy biting at Me

April 28, 2013, 8:53 PM
Q: My puppy is biting my ankles while on the leash, he is 15wks old. Any advice? Also he lays down often when walking.
A: You have to take a position that going toward your feet is not fun. This is easily accomplished by not trying to avoid scooting him out of the way when you take a step. You do not have to be forceful but only make it uncomfortable for him to be near your feet. Another tactic is to create a leash that is stiff, you can thread a simple cord through a section of hollow plastic pipe (pvc plumbing pipe from a home supply store) this will allow you to direct where he is relative to your feet and keep him away. Either method will work. So far as him laying down during your walk it probably comes from him expending a lot of energy chasing your feet. The above suggestions should solve that. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks Dr. Rybka
