History

The Shepadoodle Mini is a new designer breed of dog. It’s a cross between a purebred Old English Sheepdog and a purebred Miniature Poodle. The modern Sheepdog has seen a rise in popularity in the last decade. People are more and more interested in adopting the magnificent Mini Sheepadoodles for their hypoallergenic and low-shedding coats.

The smallest of the Sheepadoodle family, the Mini Sheepadoodle is a carefully thought-out version of three generations of this popular pup.

A first-generation, F1 Mini Sheepadoodle, is when a puppy has a purebred Old English Sheepdog parent and a purebred Mini Poodle parent. A second-generation, F1B Mini Sheepadoodle, is when a puppy has an F1 Sheepadoodle parent (a first-generation Sheepadoodle) and a purebred Mini Poodle parent. Last but not least, there is also a third-generation, F2 Mini Sheepadoodle that is when both mom and dad of the puppy are Mini Shepadoodles parents.

Contradicting the name, the Old English Sheepdog is not a very old breed. It originated in England in the 1700s and was originally used to herd and protect sheep from predators. The dog was also agile and resilient, so it took on the difficult and long roads that were on the way to markets. The Old English Sheepdog’s luck has changed for the better when rich families in the United States noticed and praised their beauty in the prize dog show rings. They were never nervous, never showed aggression, and won a lot of canine beauty contests. The Old English Sheepdog went on to compete at canine sports, like agility, obedience, tracking, rally, flyball, you name it. They became popular overnight, and for good reasons.

The Poodle is a popular breed of dog. With centuries of achievements in their portfolio, the Poodle has been represented in French poetry, British literature, and Italian paintings. The breed is ranked second most intelligent, and this has translated to popularity among people. The Poodle is one of the most popular breeds in the world.

Cross the nature of a Sheepdog with the features of a Poodle and you get these magnificent Mini Sheepadoodles; an adorable-looking dog with high intelligence that makes for a great companion to any family. The hypoallergenic qualities of the Mini Sheepadoodle make it an ideal pet for fellow owners who have allergies.
