    The Teddy Bear came about in the year 2000, when a Shih Tzu and a Bichon Frise were crossed to create a small hypoallergenic designer breed. This breed is small sized even into adulthood, having a max height of 12 inches and a max weight of 11-13 pounds.

Dental care is required and a high quality dry food will help in avoiding dental issues.

For this breed a harness is recommended instead of a classic collar for walks to prevent pressure on their sensitive trachea. The Teddy Bear is also sensitive to heat and should not be kept outside for long periods of time. The life expectancy of this breed is up to 15 years with proper care to stay healthy.
